2026/2027 PTA Executive Board

Lindsey Hawes
President
Lindsey Hawes, a Serra Mesa resident for over 10 years, arrived in San Diego in 2011 after attending grad school in Santa Barbara and moving cross country from Hampton Roads, Virginia. Lindsey deploys clean energy projects as a program manager for the City of San Diego. She is raising Odin (5th) and Ian (3rd) with her husband Ryan, all three avid ice hockey players. In her spare time , Lindsey enjoys exercising under water and exploring San Diego's and the world's natural and culinary treasures. This is Lindsey's 2nd year serving as President. We have been extremely fortunate to have experienced her professionalism, philanthropic heart, and industrious advancements to our productivity, as well as general team positivity. Lindsey makes the PTA feel approachable, because she exudes easy, direct, and humble leadership. She will never give you less than full support!

Lauren Jones
Executive Vice President
Lauren Jones is a San Diego native who also happened to attend elementary school in Serra Mesa. She and her husband Ian are parents to Ezra (6th) and Roan (2nd). With 30 years in the floral/events industry she is an award winning florist who has honed her craft through opportunities in National Ad Campaigns, luxury brands, and destination events. She is a business owner, establishing The Twisted Calla in 2011 and has been wearing all the hats as one-woman show ever since! Lauren loves adventure, being in the water, nature, and movies. She and her family like to spend their free time at Legoland, the zoo, camping, museums, the library and swimming. This will be Lauren's second year serving as Vice-President. She is still unsure what the Vice-President does, however she had an amazing first year doing it! Lauren loves being with the kids whenever she can and fortunately is able to be more hands-on during school hours since much of her work is on the weekend. You might see her running in and out with spirit wear, decorations, fundraising prizes, or popsicles. This is Lauren in her natural state. Even if she looks busy, she still wants to help you out. Don't be afraid to say "hi" if you see her in the wild.

Kristin Woodburn
Treasurer
Kristin Woodburn is originally from Arizona, and spent 10 amazing years living in New York, NY before moving to San Diego 15 years ago. For the past 7 years, she has been a Serra Mesa resident. Kristin is a marketing leader in the tech industry, working remotely for a large global brand. She is a proud mama to Wyatt (2nd), and in their free time they enjoy anything sports related (Go Padres!), adventuring outside, Legoland, the zoo, movies, and reading. This is also Kristin's 2nd year in her role as Treasurer and are we ever thankful for that! She has brought us into this new Golden Age of Technology with actual accounting software and up-to-date education and advancement in her role. She has kindly kept our finances accurate and prompt (no matter how chaotic) and has supported us in person at every event. When Kristin finishes her role as treasurer, she will be leaving a neatly wrapped financial package for the next person.

Long Nguyen
Secretary
Long Nguyen is a Serra Mesa native and former student at Cubberley. He and his wife Lisa are parents to Jayne (4th) and Charlie (3rd). Long is a media director at an education agency and runs a media/design company along with Lisa. Long enjoys golfing and bowling. His family likes spending their weekends at the Zoo, Legoland, and all the parks San Diego has to offer. Long is also embracing a second year in his role and it's a good thing because every PTA needs a Long. He shows up like magic right when you need him most. He has filled in gaps in finances, event support, tech, and meeting logistics. He keeps tabs on our goings on even when we don't expect it, and sometimes the guy has some pretty genius ideas.

OPEN POSITION
Financial Reviewer
We promise the math isn't as bad as it sounds! We will help new chairpersons become acquainted with this position (which is only needed twice a year).

OPEN POSITION
Historian/Photographer
If you are already coming to our events and have an eye for capturing memories, this could be an easy fit for you. Snap some photos throughout the year and assist in compiling the yearbook in Spring. We will help get you started and support you in all processes.

OPEN POSITION
Parliamentarian
The PTA Parliamentarian is responsible for managing bylaws, interpreting rules, and organizing nominating committees. Yup. We don't know either, but we can figure it out together! Pretty sure you just attend meetings and a few other bits.

OPEN POSITION
Various Committee Chairs
We can assign you a position as Chairperson or Chairperson-In-Training to just about any committee that covers an event or area of need. For instance, we could use both a Chairperson for Trunk or Treat and for Communications. One would be for a one time event, the other would be little ongoing things like creating newsletters or social media posts. Maybe you split that job with someone as co-chairs. Let's talk!
